Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions


This seminar focusses on spin dependend effects in solids. Spin caloric phaenomena (spin and charge transport in samples where a temperature gradient is applied) will be discussed as well as spin dynamics and the spin pump effect. with the latter pure spin currents can be produceed which are relevant for fundamental research and spin electronics.

Learning Outcome

After successful participation in the module the student can
use the basic methods of literature retrieval, condense their knowlegde from scientific papers into a presentation and obtain presentation skills.
They have learned about spin-dependend effects in solids.

Module Exam

Description of exams and course work

In the course of the seminar each student individually prepares a talk on a topic of current research. Based on this talk the learning outcome is tested.

There is a possibility to take the exam in the following semester.
