Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions
This student seminar covers topics of nuclear physics as well as theoretical and observational astrophysics. It addresses the roles and methods of particle accelerators, (a) for nuclear physics measurements as relevant in astrophysical problems, and (b) how cosmic particle accelerators produce nuclear-physics phenomena in astronomy. This relates to one of the research areas of the Cluster of Excellence "Origin and Structure of the Universe"
After successful participation in the module the student can
use the basic methods of literature retrieval, condense their knowlegde from scientific papers into a presentation and obtain presentation skills.
They have learned about particle accelerators for nuclear physics measurement as relevant in astrophysical problems, as well as how cosmic particle accelerators produce nuclear-physics phenomena in astronomy
