PH1093 is a semester module in German or English language at Master’s level which is offered every semester.

Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions
Students prepare on their own a presentation in which they present their Master's thesis. The presentation is followed by a disputation on the topic of the Master's thesis, which extends to the further area of biophysics.
In the master colloquium the student shows his/her ability to
- present the essential elements of the thesis in a scientific presentation,
- to respond to critical objections
- to justify the own position and approach towards others.

Learning and Teaching Methods
The module consists mainly of self-study hours for the students to prepare themselves for the talk about the master thesis as well as for the disputation following the talk.
Use of own recordings, topic- and subject-specific media, computers, presentation tools
Master's Thesis and references therein.
Description of exams and course work
The student gives a talk of 30 minutes about the Master thesis. This is followed by a 30-minute disputation on the topic of the Master's thesis, which extends to the other fields which are connected to the Master's thesis.
In the talk the students show that they are able to present and explain the topic, classify and evaluate the solution approaches, discuss and defend the project and the results in a scientific discussion.
A repetition of the master colloquium is possible according to the relevant regulations of the FPSO.
There is a possibility to take the exam in the following semester.
