Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Energy systems II focuses on renewable energy systems. Different technologies and concepts are discussed with regards to technical and economical feasibility. Also topics like environmental footprint, availability, grid control and energy storage are covered. Promotion of renewable energy technologies in different countries and regions is also discussed, e.g. the Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz in Germany.

Learning Outcome

Having participated in this course the students have gained a deep understanding of renewable energy systems. Moreover the students have gotten an overview of necessary economical, environmental considerations as well as grid control and current potential and issues with energy storage.

Energy systems I is recommended but not mandatory.
