Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions
Content
After an overview over the types of high performance vehicles and racing series the most important aerodynamic basics for the efficiency of a vehicle are presented. The interrelationship with the driving performances is explained. Furthermore the most important methods for the aerodynamic development of high performance vehicles in the industrial practice are presented. An overview of the existing operating lever at a vehicle for the optimization of the aerodynamic performance are given in the following vehicle areas.:
Airfoil elements, vehicle front, vehicle back, under body, diffusor, motor fresh air, engine radiator, brake cooling, air vanes, wheel, wheel arch

Learning Outcome
After having participated at the module courses the student is able to choose the operating lever for the optimization of the aerodynamic performance of a vehicle. Target conflicts of the vehicle characteristics are known and can be validated. Furthermore the relevant physical phenomena for a target-oriented optimisation can be identified. The students are furthermore able to answer the occurring question statements by making a pre-choice of methods for aerodynamic development in the industrial practice.
Preconditions
Fluidmechanics I, Aerodynamic of ground vehicles is advantageous but not obligatory prescribed.

Module Exam
Description of exams and course work
The exam performance consists of a written exam in multiple choice procedure. By answering the questions the main focus lays on the basic understanding of physical procedures and the context between these and the aerodynamic characteristics of high performance cars.
Exam Repetition
There is a possibility to take the exam in the following semester.
