Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

Part of the lecture is the basic content of teaching and learning in educational contexts and developmental aspects of children and adolescents. Concepts from the field of general psychology and educational psychology are set in relation to the context of school, the teaching process, and the developmental context. Models and conditions of development, the development of selected functions (intelligence, memory, knowledge, language and speech, motivation, moral thought and action, social and sexual behavior, identity and self-concept), childhood and adolescence, and facilitation of development are further topics of interest.

Learning Outcome

After participation, the student is able to understand influence factors underlying successful learning at school, to create age-appropriate learning environments, and to identify developmental characteristics of children and adolescents.

The contents are conveyed with slides and handouts. Students are encouraged to study the relevant literature in order to develop further understandings of the contents.

Module Exam

Description of exams and course work

The assessment will take place in form of a written examination of 60 min. By means of this examination, the students shall demonstrate that they are able to remember, understand and apply the lectures’ content without additional auxiliaries and within a limited amount of time. The examination is designed in such a way that the intended learning outcomes can be assessed adequately. To this end, students will work on single-choice questions and open questions.

Exam Repetition

There is a possibility to take the exam in the following semester.
