Course 0000004078 in SS 2020

General Data

Assignment to Modules

This course is not assigned to any module.

Further Information

Courses are together with exams the building blocks for modules. Please keep in mind that information on the contents, learning outcomes and, especially examination conditions are given on the module level only – see section "Assignment to Modules" above.

additional remarks The block course will introduce memristive devices for various future electronic applications. We will first cover basic principles of achieving a memristive effect and its possible applications. We will then give an in-depth introduction in the characteristics of memristive devices and how they are fabricated and characterized. The students will apply their knowledge by fabricating and measuring several memristive devices. This interdisciplinary course covers aspects of electrical engineering, physics and materials science. Course topics: Introduction to memristive devices, hands-on introduction into fabrication processes: sputtering, plasma oxidation, rapid thermal annealing, metal evaporation using thermal and e-beam sources, optical characterization of thin films with ellipsometry; electrical characterization of memory devices using a probe station, analysis of measurement results
