Directions for reaching us by public transport
There are direct public transport connections from within the Munich area via subway or bus. The Physics Department is located less than 500 m north-east of the subway station “Garching-Forschungszentrum” of line U6.

- The Campus Garching is directly served by subway U6 to final destination “Garching-Forschungszentrum”, the trip takes about 25 minutes
- From Munich airport
- You reach us with suburban train S1 to Neufahrn and then via bus 690 to “Garching-Forschungszentrum”

Directions for reaching us by car
The research campus Garching can be reached by the highway “A9” and is located right at the exit 70 “Garching-Nord”.
- From Munich
- Take the highway A9 towards Nuremberg/Nürnberg, exit 70 “Garching-Nord” and follow the signs to “Forschungszentrum”
- From Nuremberg or Munich airport
- Take highway A9 towards Munich/München, exit 70 “Garching-Nord” and follow the signs to “Forschungszentrum”
Physics Department plan
The site plan of the Physics Department presents an overview of the research campus, the physics buildings and the rooms and facilities of our department. Printed copies are available at the main entrance of the main building and online as PDF to download.
There is also an online room finder for the physics buildings 1 and 2 as well as for the mathematics and informatics building.
Incoming goods
The office for incoming goods is located downstairs, at the back of the building. It also serves as our lost property office.
