Curriculum

Our AEP master programme aims to engage highly motivated students with an above-average performance. This programme enables students to tailor their studies individually according to their aspirations and to ensure excellent compentence in advanced science and technology. The spectrum of courses is very broad, reflecting the scientific profile of TUM‘s Physics Department and thereof ensuring the students cutting-edge topics and first-hand information on current developments.

Advanced studies

The first year of the programme contains an advanced theoretical physics course, 6 elective courses on specialised topics in modern physics, an advanced lab course and a student seminar. Additionally, there are elective courses from the fields of mathematics, informatics, chemistry and engineering and an open catalogue of soft skills.

Research phase

The second year of the programme is devoted to the master thesis, including practical training in a laboratory in the Physics Department or at one of the adjunct institutes located on the TUM Campus Garching and Munich.

A detailed sketch of the curriculum can be found here.

International & social dimension

The AEP master not only offers its students to study in an international environment, with many lecturers and classmates coming from abroad, but offers them as well a wide range of social and cultural activities:
